Another logo design under our belts! Susen and I have recently completed this small and very enjoyable project for a very good cause. We produced the logo for Mark de Rond and Anton Wright, both of Cambridge University, who are about to row the entire length of the Amazon, starting from Peru and all the way to Brazil, in September. The challenge is in aid of the Leonard Cheshire Charity.
Initially, we tried a few typographic solutions, and thought of the usual oars/boat imagery, but very quickly decided against it. We really didn't want the logo to look like it was representing a boat club. Instead, we wanted to capture the ruggedness and robustness of the challenge, as well as infuse the logo with a certain informality. So, we tried a more 'hands-on' approach using pens and brushes, and practising our somewhat rusty drawing skills. You can see the results above, and I am happy to report that both the client and ourselves are pleased with it. If you'd like to find more about the challenge, go to www.rowtheamazon.com. For ourselves, we wish Mark and Anton the very best of luck with their endeavour.
